The Poppy Project is run by students at Fanshawe College. This page explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
This website is operated by The Poppy Project at Fanshawe College, 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd, London, ON, N5Y 5R6. For questions about the project or about an order, contact us at info@poppyproject.ca.
Personal information collected through this website is collected under the authority of Fanshawe College and is governed by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. It is used to respond to enquiries, to fulfil and support orders, and to administer The Poppy Project.
Questions about the collection of this information should be directed to Fanshawe College.
We try to collect as little as possible.
When you email us. Your name, email address, the organization you are writing on behalf of, and whatever you tell us. We use it to answer you and to keep track of your order or enquiry.
When you visit the site. Basic, aggregated information about how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, and which browser or device they use. We use this to see which parts of the site are working. We do not use it to identify individual people.
When you order a kit. Orders are handled by Fanshawe College through The Chefs Table, not by this website. Your payment and delivery information is collected and stored by Fanshawe College under The Chefs Table. We receive only what we need to fulfil and deliver your order.
We do not ask for information about students. Kits are ordered by teachers, staff and organizers, not by young people.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, including information such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type. Google Analytics does not log or store raw IP addresses. Cookies are set for this purpose. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We do not share it with the Royal Canadian Legion or with our sponsors.
We share information only with the services we need to run the project: Fanshawe College, which processes your order, the shipping carrier that delivers it, and the email and analytics services that let us reply to you and understand site use. Each of those has access only to what it needs.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
We retain personal information only for as long as required for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with Fanshawe College’s applicable records-retention requirements. Aggregated site statistics are kept indefinitely because they do not identify anyone.
You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Write to admin@poppyproject.ca.
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date below.
